Coronavirus Wedding Update – 4th July

The government updated the guidelines yesterday with what will be permitted in the UK from July 4th. Of course, we were eager to learn what it would mean for the wedding industry!

Some things have changed but unfortunately (and of course very obviously to keep everyone safe) things have not changed for wedding receptions and parties.

Places of worship will be able to open from July 4th, allowing religious ceremonies to take place. However, singing is not permitted, songs and music could be played in their place.

Weddings are now allowed to occur with a maximum amount of 30 people. These guests will also need to social distance, except those from the same household. The government advice is that you should only invite close friends and family up to a maximum of 30 people.

“Wedding celebrations can only happen when people follow the guidance of six people outdoors, support bubbles, or two households indoors or outdoors. It is critical for these guidelines to be observed to keep you and your family and friends as safe as possible.”

“It will be against the law to gather in groups larger than 30 people, except for a limited set of circumstances to be set out in law and unless all members of the group are exclusively from two households”

It may be that couples choose to get married this year and then throw a large celebration next year. It is best to follow your intuition and decide what is best for you and your loved ones.

We would love to hear from you and see what your thoughts are!

As always, we are here to advise and help those with wedding planning or even just wedding questions.
